How The Invisalign System Works
Each aligner is worn betweeN 20-22 hours a day for up to two weeks before being disposed of and replaced by a new set of aligners which are part of the treatment plan. When the aligner is affixed onto the teeth, this will comfortably shift the teeth into their ideal place. The only time an aligner is removed is to drink, eat, brush or floss. During treatment, patients are required to visit their dental office for ongoing checkups. Treatment time typically takes place from as little as 5 month up to 15 months. A little extra pressure may be felt when a new set of aligners are worn. Slight discomfort is felt for the first few days, which is totally normal.
Cleaning your aligners
Aligners must be rinsed thoroughly every night and brushed gently with a toothbrush to keep them fresh and clean. The Invisalign cleaning system may also be used to keep aligners clear.
